The Soup is a 100% homegrown, volunteer-produced, 4 day, 3 night camping and community festival. By requesting a ticket, you are proclaiming your desire to become a volunteer, and part of the community that will help create our 29th Stone Soup! The Soup is a DoOcracy. Big fun takes big work! We all share in the work and play to create the event.
The Soup is an alternative gathering where being hugged by a stranger (with permission, of course), or maybe seeing someone smoking something, or swimming naked in the waters, is a real possibility. If you've been to a Soup, you know this is our reality and you are most likely comfortable with these scenarios. If you are inviting someone new to the Soup, then these realities should be shared so that there are no surprises and no one feels offended or out of place.
Bringing someone new to The Soup is exciting... and, should also be a thoughtful decision. A new Soupster should expect many types of fun, surprises, mischief and imperfections. Each Soupster contributes their own ideas and actions to building our community, and they are willing to help out in the kitchen and elsewhere. Soupsters thrive best when they are comfortable—or comfortably uncomfortable—being a "newbie" and trying new experiences. When you think about your invitee, ask not only who needs The Soup, but who The Soup needs. Finally, Soupsters understand that there may be some late night shenanigans and will joyfully go to sleep with earplugs!
We as a Soup are in a process of building diversity and inclusion within our community. We are hosting shared learning events and creating systems to support allyship and accountability, among other efforts. Increasing diversity and inclusion at Soup also relies upon each of us and who we choose to invite as our plus one. We encourage you to prioritize inviting friends who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) to Soup. We also ask that you are proactively open and honest with your invitee about the current racial demographics, and antiracism learning dynamics, of Soup when inviting them. To learn more, see the Soup Anti-Racism section of the Soup website.
Over the past 28+ years, The Soup has supported and connected with grassroots organizations throughout California and the world. To date, we have raised over $300,000 for our amazing beneficiaries. This year, we’ll support the same two beneficiaries as last year to get to know them a little better and support them better.
This year, we have Early Slurp pricing, and prices will go up in about a month. We are doing this tiered system because we want to encourage you to make the decision to get your ticket(s) and get involved with producing the event sooner. We also hope to limit the ticket admin we have to do as the event gets closer, so we can focus on creating the fun.
Current prices (these will go up after about a month!)
Adults: $285 ticket
Teens (13-17): $185 ticket
Kids (12 and under): $165 ticket
"Babes in arms" (less than 1 year old): free ticket
There is an additional charge of $100 to bring a van or RV to The Soup only if you want to hook up to power, water and/or sewer. RVs not requiring hook up are free. There are eight available hookups. More info on requesting RV Hookups is available here.
One of the tools we'll use to Swirl together as we co-create Pattern Soup and future events is the chat platform Slack. It allows us to DM each other, create subgroups, share images, reply with cute emojis, and stay organized in a way we just can't with long email threads. If you're not already on it, sign up for a free Slack account and install the Slack app on your computer and/or phone. Once you have it installed, here's a link to our Pattern Soup 2024 workspace. Feel free to say "hi!"" to your Swirl's #channel when you're in! Click here for more info.
You will need to be asymptomatic and take a negative rapid antigen COVID test within 24 hours of the event OR have a negative COVID PCR test within 72 hours of the event. No exceptions. We will not be requiring proof of vaccination to attend Pattern Soup. Water conservation and fire safety will be vital at this year’s event and we will need your help and vigilance. More details soon and thank you in advance for your cooperation.
We expect our community to be cooperative, resilient and responsive to any and all realities that may be implemented to run Soup safely.
Soup tickets are non transferable, with no exceptions. If you find that you cannot come to Soup, email
BigSoupyLove@gmail.com ASAP and we will attempt to re-assign your ticket
to someone else, and if we can assign your ticket to someone else, we will refund your money. If the Soup is canceled because of circumstances beyond our control, such as a COVID surge/new variant, or because of state or county regulations, or natural disasters such as fire, our event will be rescheduled and your ticket price will be applied to the rescheduled event date, within a year. After Jun 1st 2024, all tickets are non transferable and non refundable, no exceptions.
